RICHMOND, Va. – An ice storm that swept through the Commonwealth on Saturday, Feb. 13, left widespread scattered debris, fallen trees and downed utility lines on numerous routes. The Richmond region was hit hardest, with thousands of trees blocking travel lanes and more falling each minute due to heavy ice accumulation on branches.

COMMONWEALTH TRANSPORTATION BOARD RELEASES DRAFT SMART SCALE PROJECT SCORES
Priorities will be reviewed with final vote in June 2021
RICHMOND, Va. – At its January meeting, the Commonwealth Transportation (CTB) released scores for the fourth round of transportation projects to be evaluated under the SMART SCALE prioritization process. More than 400 applications were submitted by localities, metropolitan planning organizations, and other regional entities across the state, and 397 have been scored based on several key factors: safety, congestion reduction, accessibility to jobs and businesses, economic development, environmental impacts, and land use.

WINTER STORM TO BRING ICE, SNOW, RAIN AND WIND TO VIRGINIA

RICHMOND, Va. – Winter weather with statewide impacts is expected to start as early as overnight tonight. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is urging motorists to watch local forecasts and conditions, and be prepared to adjust travel as needed. VDOT reminds motorists, if there is ice or snow on roadways, travel is hazardous.
